Hello Fellow EAA Members,
I’m Lisa. I’m from Northern Ireland but for the past six years I have called LA home. I am passionate about workers’ rights, equity, and fairness.
With a dynamic skillset acquired over the past 18 years from educational and professional experience in Finance, Forensic Science, Education, Human Resources, Retail, Law Enforcement, Youth Outreach, Management, and currently Criminal Law, as a Paralegal with the City Attorney’s Office, I am able to hit the ground running and adapt quickly to new challenges. I pay attention. I speak up and I advocate for others. I stand for transparency, accountability, and representation.
I am asking for your vote and in return I will advocate for and represent the EAA Membership with integrity and diligence. Victories, big or small, are worthy of celebration but we do not have to settle—we can go further. Together.

EAA would be better served with leadership that operates under democratic and egalitarian principles who vigilantly look out for members' welfare. As a Unit Council Member for MOU 1, I want to represent you and voice your concerns, and facilitate communication.
My goals are to generate knowledge which shall be informative to members, uphold the value of integrity, transparency of processes, and accountability throughout. I believe that advocacy is critical to the success of our representation.
I graduated from University of La Verne with a BS in Public Administration [2013] and a MS in Business Administration [2016], and currently working for the Los Angeles Police Department. I humbly ask for your vote and support, and would be honored to contribute with motivated commitments.

I’ve been with the Department of City Planning for nearly four years now. I’m grateful to have a job where I can make a difference without having to sacrifice compensation or benefits. I know these jobs are harder and harder to come by, as people in the City of Los Angeles continue to struggle with higher levels of debt, falling wages, and skyrocketing cost of living. This is especially true for some of our younger residents that have only known post-recession wages.
In 2017 I became a Union Steward to better understand the Union’s role in creating and protecting good jobs. In 2018 I was elected to MOU 21 Unit Council, which gave me the opportunity to work alongside many of you in negotiating this current contract. Since that election I have moved from MOU 21 to MOU 19, so I’m asking you to write in my name so I can continue in the Unit Council role. If elected I will continue to work as a conduit to ensure all members in MOU 19 have a voice in how EAA can continue to advocate on our behalf.

I have been an LA City employee for 4 years and work for City Planning. I grew up in Los Angeles with family members who were teachers and belonged to UTLA, which gave me an early education in the importance of unions. As a grad student, I was drawn to working in the public sector because it offers the opportunity to tackle complex problems, but also because of the prospect of a great work culture and secure unionized job.
I became involved in EAA by assisting with a collaborative effort in developing the “Ask” for my Department and attending EAA meetings. I became a Union Steward and when I learned about the unfilled vacancy for Unit Council, I thought it would be a great opportunity to further contribute to making a difference at EAA.
I would like to do my part toward letting others know about the ongoing efforts at EAA, and that they can join and help with the good work that is to come. My top priority is to increase participation at meetings so that more input can be considered and EAA can reflect more of its members. I am excited for a new era in EAA, with the implementation of our MOU contract and the opportunity to represent a new generation of membership.

I've worked for the City of Los Angeles for 7 years with the Department of City Planning and the Housing and Community Investment Department. I saw first-hand how the 2013 Memoranda of Understanding disproportionately affected new employees and I rose awareness of the issues created by the contract such as salary inequities, difficulties in hiring, and employee retention. For the recently adopted MOUs, I contributed significantly to a group recommendation to lessen disparities and improve working conditions. EAA used the proposal I developed for the decrease from 15 to 12 steps. Also, I took part in the negotiations as a subject matter expert, where I proposed and advocated for a salary note ensuring parity between equivalent Department of City Planning and Department of Transportation positions.
As a Unit Council member, I will continue to fight for fairness with integrity and transparency. Please consider writing me in for one of the two vacant positions for EAA Unit Council MOU 19.
